Why Hire A Business Coach
by Angella Dagenhart
Summary: There are many things to consider when you're looking to hire support for your business.
Don't have a coach and wonder why people do? Before becoming a home-based business owner, so did I. But now that I have had the opportunity to work with my coach, Maria Marsala www.ElevatingYourBusiness.com, I wonder where my business would be if I hadn't.
A coach can help you solidify the vision that you have for your business. By introducing you to tools and processes, your coach can help you set a firm foundation. I had considered business plans to be a necessity for large corporations - not my small VA practice. How wrong I was. Maria sent me a book to help me write my business plan. And, because she had taken into consideration my right-brained creative personality, she chose "The One Page Business Plan" by Jim Horan, which is full of fun questions and activities, making it easy for me to sit down and complete. I now have a vision for my business that reaches much further than what I had originally thought possible.
Have you ever sat down and thought about the stresses and situations that you are tolerating in your life? Neither had I until my coach asked me to list them. By taking the time to sit down and put onto paper the things that were standing in my way, I was able to begin to think of ways to reduce or eliminate them.
A challenging obstacle that I faced by leaving the corporate world for the entrepreneurial life, was loosing the ability to "bounce" ideas off of colleagues. I have regained that and so much more by having a coach. Not only does Maria listen to my ideas, she gives constructive, creative feedback helping me to evolve my ideas into plans and actions.
One of the biggest benefits I have received from having a coach is the fair and honest critiquing of my work. The saying "you are your own worst critic" rings especially true for me. If I was my only critic, my productivity and confidence would diminish. Maria constructively gives advice and feedback that, unlike advice given by people I have personal relationships with, is objective. Even harsh truths sound better coming from her.
Is the idea of having a business coach beginning to appeal to you? Many coaches, like Maria, don't advertise it, but they have ways to accommodate any client's budget (like mine). All you have to do is ask.
Having a coach does not insure that your business will be a success, but, you will certainly have an advantage over your competition!
