Acheive more with faster results. Is Your Web site Untitled?
Go take a look at your web site. All the way on the top of your screen, if you use Internet Explorer and a PC, in the dark blue with white letter area, is your site's title. (The colors may change if you use a Mac, or Netscape, etc.) Some search engines use the "title" of your page as the way to search for "keywords". Yet as I travel around the web, I see so many "untitled" titles! Or titles that list a web site or company name that few people know! If you want someone to find you, use some of the words you'd use to find yourself and stick to under 60 characters. Feel free to use different titles on different pages, too. Just make sure that your title describes what is on a particular page. Don't leave your site untitled or unsearchable. Examples: Since many people know me as Coach Maria, I could use that in my title, but I don't. I also don't use Maria's Place as few people would look for the services I provide using that name. Instead, I use keywords like Business Coach and/or Life Coach on my main pages and my other pages, and add Free Articles, Newsletters, Events, etc. Added benefit: The title of your site, is ALSO, the name of your site that appears in the "favorites files" or "bookmarked file" when your potential client saves it for future reference or use. © 2010 Elevating Your Business.
